Vintage Hill CellarsLast night EagleBiz Spokane kicked off at the Vintage Hill Cellars launching the EWU alumni organization aimed at enhancing the personal and professional development of Eastern Washington University Alumni. The evening's headliner was Spokane's own Allen Battle (co-creator of LaunchPad INW) who gave a great speech on the benefits and future of Social Networking in Business. Allen stressed that Social Networking is key to a successful business, but is never a replacement for "eyeball to eyeball" interactions in person.  Battle, a social networking guru in Spokane, says he and a colleague developed LaunchPad INW in 2006 to create a more business centric social networking site aimed at connecting individuals on a professional level away from the more personally targeted FaceBook and other mainstream social networking platforms. The evening wrapped up with a sampling from four of Vintage Hill's great wines (my favorite of the night being the Merlot Rose).  Vintage Hill Cellars opened their doors in 2007 and releasing four great wines to the public Mother's Day 2008.  Their public storefront is a cozy brick lounge featuring ample seating and beautiful wood tables crafted from recycled floor joists and beams from some of Spokane's former historic buildings.All-in-all the event was a huge success, the second event is planned for January 2010 (details forthcoming).  If you are an EWU Alumni interested in enhancing your career or business through "eyeball to eyeball" networking, check out http://www.EagleBizSpokane.com and signup.Vintage Hill Cellars is located at 319 W. 2nd Ave (between Washington and Bernard).
