Deer Park, a city incorporated in June of 1908, lies about 25 miles north of Spokane, WA. Deer Park got its name when railroad surveyors noticed the area was home to deer that enjoyed grazing near the tracks. Deer Park was originally settled in 1889 due to railroad construction for the Spokane Falls & Northern Railway. Soon a sawmill sprung up and several general stores with goods for sale. In 1904, Arcadia Apple Orchards Company was established. They called Deer Park home and planted orchards of apple trees in areas cleared by logging.
In modern days, residents of Deer Park enjoy many annual events. Settlers Days and a large City Wide Yard Sale take place in the summer and Winterfest takes place in January. Deer Park Settlers Days includes two parades, music, a rodeo and food and craft booths with many items for sale. Deer Park residents with homes on Main Street can kick back, relax, and watch the parade from their front porch.
Deer Park is a great place to call home with lots of recreational opportunities. The Deer Park Golf Club is a popular attraction.
