Browne’s Addition: One of America’s Great Places

A great article in the Spokesman Review today about  a high honor Spokane’s own Browne’s Addition has received.  As one of the oldest neighborhoods in Spokane Browne’s Addition has been dubbed one of America’s Great Places by the APA (American Planning Association).

According to HistoricSpokane.org the area was  originally platted in the 1880’s and was home to many of Spokane’s “well-to-do” homewoners.  Throughout the last 30 years Browne’s Addition has received historic monies to add upgrades to the area and maintain the area’s historic charm.

I’ve had the pleasure of viewing many of the great historic homes in the area, many with butler’s closets, beautiful wood floors, and a historic feel out of the 1800’s.  Having spent some time at Coeur d’Alene park and my favorite nearby watering hole, the Elk, I’ve grown quite fond this area and I’m glad it’s receiving the recognition it deserves.
